Shirley Ann Magno

Shirley was born on April 7th, 1934 in Allentown, PA. She was the only child of Foster and Dorothy Benner.

Shirley is survived by her five daughters, Giovanna Johnston, Marissa Chalker, Rosanna Cellura, Sylvia Welter and Pamela Magno, as well as many loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by many wonderful friends.

Shirley was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, David A. Magno.

As an only child, she was given many comforts, such as individual dishes for each food item to prevent the foods from touching one another.

In her teens, she enjoyed the independence of traveling with friends.

In 1953, Shirley was attending State Teachers College in East Stroudsburg, PA. Her desire was to become a physical education teacher. All that changed the summer she met the love of her life, Dave, while working in the Poconos at Shawnee Inn. He quickly nicknamed her "Sunshine*.

They started a family in Florida and ended up with their children being born in various states on the East Coast.

Shirley loved taking her daughters shopping, to the movies, beach and for ice cream. Working and friends were always a big part of her life.

Much of her midlife was spent enjoying time with her ever-growing family.

Her new friends at PG IV brought her much happiness in her later years. Shirley was highly involved in social activities and even served as President of the Entertainment Committee. Some of her favorite activities were exercise, socializing at the pool, lunches with the "Birthday Club, dominoes and Bingo.

A visitation for Shirley will be held Sunday, August 27, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Kraeer Funeral Home, 200 West Copans Road, Pompano Beach, FL 33064, followed by a reception on site from 12:30 PM to 4:00 PM.
