John Herbert Hays, Born July 23, 1947, Philadelphia, PA. Parents, John Pryor Hays and Ella Belle Hays. Wife, Margaret Balistreri-Hays, married March 7, 1998. His parents were both school teachers. His father was a professor of history at Broward Community College in Davie. His mother taught math to young students.

Toastmasters International for a very long time with Margaret as well. Started around 1987 to 2020. He met Margaret in Toastmasters at a club that met at the former Pompano Beach library. He did mentoring and was an Advanced Leader. Margaret and Herb dated 3 years and married March 7, 1998 doing Toastmasters events throughout their life, and church and family events.
His latest passion was abstract painting and poetry he wrote for Margaret. They use to go to movies, ballroom dancing, and truly loved Hallmark movies.. Herb has 2 brother in laws, Joe and Jim Balistreri, and 3 delightful sister in laws, Carol, Kathy and Anne. Survived also with 27 nieces and nephews and more to come and loves and knows half of them.
If Herb was alive today, he would say; "I really love my wife Margaret and thank you and everyone for all the things you did for me through the very end of my tough disease COPD and Margaret thank you for introducing me to Jesus on a deeper level through St. Paul's catholic church which became my church. I love you Margaret Balistreri-Hays, and everyone so very much. Thank you, Jesus, for the family you gave me. Thank you for the priests and ministers in my life and friends. Margaret I will take care of our mansion waiting for you.
