Dorrie was born on September 4th to Eugene and Clare Sheridan of Bayside, Queens, NY. She was the 2nd child of 4 and an amazing big sister to her surviving brother, Jerry and sister, Clare. Dorrie worked her way up to the position of Director at the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale Employment Services and excelled in her role as supervisor and placing those hard to place students. Dorrie loved her job and the people she worked with; her career was cut too short due to disability.
Dorrie was extremely trusting and friendly and had many friends. She enjoyed her friends immensely and loved to talk, laugh, dance, and her dog, Cocoa. Dorrie was a good steward over her possessions and for God; Jesus was her savior. Dorrie fulfilled her purpose here on this earth, helping people and making an impact on untold numbers of people through her interactions and Her Father took her home to Him at His Perfect Timing. Those of us who mourn the loss of our beautiful sister, her family, her nephews, Greg, Scott, and Matt and her niece Kelly will keep her in their hearts always and smile when they think of her. She was a true comedienne without even trying to be. We will miss her being in our lives, her joy, her spirit, her quick wit and kindness, such a generous and pure heart, beautiful of face and soul; until we meet again.
Dorrie will be cremated and placed in the crypt where her Mom is laid to rest. There will not be pomp and circumstance, there will be a gathering at the “wall” which will be opened and Dorrie’s Urn (displaying Giraffes of course) placed in the crypt alongside her Mom and then the “wall” will be closed. Her sister Clare will join when God calls her home. It brings comfort to know we will all be together throughout eternity. A celebration of her life and gratitude for having her for as long as we did will follow at J. Marks in Pompano Beach. The cemetery holding the inurnment is Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens located at 200 Copans Road, Pompano Beach, Florida 33064. The gathering is scheduled for Saturday, April 16, 2022 at 10:30am.
The family wishes to thank everyone for their words of comfort during this difficult time. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.forestlawnnorth.com.
