Tom was born on February 4, 1933, in the family home in Little Shemogue, NB, Canada. He was a son of the late Bruce Ewen and Kathleen Marion Grace (Burgin) Blacklock.
Tom was an enthusiastic educator and school administrator. His desire to participate in ground-breaking vocational training for students brought his family to Quebec. He went on to be the Strategic Planning Officer for the Protestant School Board of Greater Montreal where he forcefully advocated for the survival of English language schooling in Montreal through difficult political times. He completed his Masters degree in his forties and in that process, he met the founders of Universalia, which launched his second career. He worked on projects involving strategic management and organizational consulting in sectors including education, airports, electricity infrastructure and the environment. His work took him to every continent on the planet except Antarctica with significant projects in India and Nepal. He would always come home with amazing stories of the people he met on his travels. Tom loved his family and many of the most joyful times together were summers spent at the family farm and cottage in Little Shemogue, NB and Christmases in St. George, NB.
Tom will be dearly missed by his wife Edith of Pointe Claire, his late son Gregory (Wendy) of Dollard des Ormeaux, son David (Marie) of Mount Pleasant, SC, son Paul (Kelly) of Pointe Claire, six granddaughters: Olivia, Brittany, Melinda, Brianna, Andrea and Karly, two great grandchildren Nathan and Eloise, and nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by brother Robert (Catherine), sister Marion Vijh (Rai), and brother Rae (Connie).
Tom was intensely curious, kind and gentle with a great smile and laugh. He was passionate about his gardens and working with his hands. He will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
