After a brief and courageous battle against cancer, Dorothy V. Bond (nee Proctor) passed away peacefully on January 20 in her home, surrounded by family, just as she'd requested, ten days shy of her 91st birthday. Wife of late Frank Bond (1922-1999); mother of Barbara (Michael), Bob, and Carol (Paul); grandmother of Robin (Scott), Kristin (Luc), Jennifer (Collin), Matthew, and Jamie: great-grandmother of Jackson, Mackenna, and Quinn; Ben and Sam: and Kate and Alex. All who met Doss were touched by her graciousness, her gentle kindness, and her devotion to family. She will be remembered fondly by friends and family in Hudson, QC, Napanee, ON, and, in the last years of her life, by her wonderful friends at the Cambridge - with whom she shared many laughs at their weekly "happy hour". The family would like to acknowledge the many compassionate and dedicated doctors and nurses who made the last weeks of Mom's life as comfortable as possible, including Drs Bounatiro, Garfield, and Dixit; nurses Marla, Catherine, Sarah, and Patrice; and especially the invaluable attention of Dr Bhanabai and Dre G. Richer, who made it possible for Mom to die with dignity, in peace and comfort, in her home. Dad was a Pathfinder in WWII and Mom was a Trailblazer in requesting and achieving a medically-assisted death, on her own terms. We're happy they're together again. She will forever be loved, missed, and admired, especially by her wonderful son, Bob, with whom she had a special connection. Mom and Bob have taken such good care of each other in so many ways. Mom wanted to acknowledge the loving attention she received from her daughters, Carol and Barb, in recent weeks that allowed her to remain in her home. In accordance with Mom's wishes, a private celebration of her life will be held at a later date. Donations in Dorothy's name to the West Island Palliative Care Centre would be most appreciated. In the care of Collins Clarke MacGillivray White in Pointe Claire.
