It is with deep sadness our family mourns the passing of Dillon, dear husband, brother, uncle and friend. Dillon passed away peacefully at the St. Ann’s Veterans Hospital after a short illness on 26th December 2021. He experienced several health setbacks in recent years which he faced with his usual quiet dignity.
Mixed with our sadness is the comfort of knowing that through hard work and often sacrifice, he achieved most of his life’s ambitions and was blessed throughout with good fortune, long-lasting friendships, and love. He enjoyed a productive, interesting working life that stretched from the Arctic to the southern US and Canada, which continued well past normal retirement age. In his late 60’s he was delighted to be offered a part-time job, close to home, which lasted over a decade and he finally accepted full retirement in his 80th year. He will be dearly missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Son of the late James Charles Dillon McGee (Calumet Island, Que.) and Margaret Doyle McGee, (Toome, Northern Ireland), he is survived by his wife of 52 years, Marlyn (Bell), and brother, William J. McGee, Ottawa (Arlene) as well as many nieces and nephews across Canada and extended family in Northern Ireland. He was predeceased by his sister, Anna McGee Hunt (Tom), and two brothers, Edward (Jane), and Thomas D’Arcy (Dianne),
We would like to thank everyone at St. Ann’s for taking such good care of Dillon. We are deeply grateful for the many kindnesses and excellent care which he received daily from compassionate nurses and caregivers.
At Dillon’s request, there will be no visitation or funeral. Interment is to be arranged by Collins Clarke MacGillivray and White in Pointe-Claire and will take place at a later date.
Darling companion rest in peace. I miss you, love you - always have, always will.
