It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Dawn Lawson (née Laxson) in her 83rd year. Dawn passed away peacefully with family by her side. Beloved wife and soulmate of 62 years to the late Peter Lawson (2018). Dawn will be sadly missed by her children Susan (Darrell), Stephen (Huguette) and Donna, as well as her grandchildren Stéphanie (Samuel) and Nicholas, and her great-grandchildren Brittany, Camille and Raphael.
Dawn was predeceased by her parents, Françoise Landreville and Bert A. Laxson and by her siblings Frances, Ronald, Alan and Lynda. She is survived by her siblings Lorraine, Lillian (R. Taylor d. 2019), Jo-Ann, Bobby (Frances) and Thelma (John) who will greatly miss her. She will also be missed by her extended family, nieces, nephews and many friends.
Born in Montreal, Dawn was the eldest of ten children and a role model. After graduating top of her class, her first job was as a legal secretary at Bell Canada then at the Royal Bank. In 1958 she left work to raise her family. Alongside her husband, Dawn was happy to help organize the annual collection of clothing and non-perishables for the Old Brewery Mission at the Kirkland 55+ Club to which they were members for many years. In addition, she also devoted many hours volunteering at Ste-Mary's Hospital and the Lakeshore Hospital. Dawn was the most loving, caring and generous person one could ever meet. She loved celebrating occasions with her family, the beach, the ocean, travelling, music, dancing, knitting (socks for the Old Brewery Mission) and playing cards (SkipBo) but her favorite pastime was sitting by the waterfront in Pointe-Claire with her lifelong "chummy", Peter.
Viewing and service will be on Monday, January 4, 2021 at Collins Clarke MacGillivray White in Pointe-Claire. Due to the Covid-19 restrictions, viewing and service will be private for family only respecting Covid protocol: wearing masks, distancing and hand washing. The service will be livestream from 2 p.m. - 3 p.m.; the link is on the funeral home's website. Knowing your thoughts and prayers are with us is comforting.
A celebration of life will take place at a later and safer date. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation in her memory would be greatly appreciated.
