He passed in his sleep at the Lakeshore General Hospital after the last of many unfortunate brain injuries. Christopher was an amazing father to Philip (Andrea) and Chris “CD” (Tara) and an extremely proud grandpa to Shane, David, Nolan, Emma and Abby. He was predeceased by his wife Pamela (1989) and is survived by his friend and companion of more than 30 years Janet (Todd, Pam, Reeshon, Gawain) along with his two beloved sisters Pamela and Helen and many nieces and nephews who he adored in England, Luxembourg, Australia and New Zealand.
Born in Hull, England, Christopher emigrated to Canada in 1976, the fulfilment of a dream that was sparked by reading stories of great adventures in Canada’s North during his youth. A trained Engineer, he joined Met-Chem Canada Inc. in Montreal and was quickly sent to Mangalore (Mangaluru), India as a Project Manager for the construction of a Pipeline and Port Facilities for the Kudremukh Iron Ore Project. His professional life would remain entwined with India and especially Iron Ore throughout, finally retiring while helping develop Iron Ore Projects in Eastern Canada.
Christopher was heavily involved in the West Island community through Lakeshore Soccer (BASA) and as a leader with Scouts Canada (2nd Beaconsfield Heights). He coached or managed soccer teams for Lakeshore for more than 20 years and it was through this that he formed many of his greatest friendships.
Christopher always lived by the motto “Never give up, Never, Never, Never!” and for the last five years this motto served him well, he had many opportunities to just say, that’s enough. But true to his Motto he never did give up until the fight was no longer his to win. We were lucky to be able to care for him at home for the last year, a team effort by all the family and time we will cherish forever.
As a family, we wish to thank the CIUSSS West Island, Richardson Rehabilitation Hospital, CIUSSS Vaudreuil-Soulanges and Tom and the Team for all their help and support over the last few years.
Friends and Family are invited to gather to Celebrate a life well lived on Saturday July 27th from 1-5pm at The Church of Saint John the Baptist (233 Sainte-Claire Ave, Pointe-Claire, Quebec H9S 4E3).
