March 17th, 1958– July 5th, 2012
Elaine Hackney McCarty, 54, of Plant City passed away July 5th, 2012. Her friends and family were by her side in the hospital as she drifted off to be with the Lord. She was born to Charles and Helen Hackney of Plant City Florida on March 17, 1958 She lived all of her life in Plant City.
She was a talented wood crafter/detailer. She was known as a Mother hen to all the kids growing up in the neighborhood and was beloved by all of them. She always had an open door for those in real need and never let anyone go hungry. She loved the holidays and among them was her birthday which is on St. Patrick's day that also highlighted her favorite color, green. She had a great love of music which included Bob Seger, Credence Clearwater Revival. Her favorite style of music was country. Some of her favorite country artists were Conway Twitty (which held her at the strawberry festival parade when she was a child). Loretta Lynn, Charley Pride, and Ricky Skaggs.
Elaine is survived by her daughter Jina Lee Del Castillo ; her mother Helen Hackney, her sister Donnie Hackney and brothers Ronnie and Michael Hackney all of Plant City. She is also survived by her ex-husband Marlin K. McCarty of Chipley, Florida and her fiancé Rojelio Martinez of Texas. Several loving aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and a host of beloved friends.
A memorial service will take place 11:00 am Saturday, July 14th, 2012 at Wells memorial funeral home. Interment will follow at Springhead Cemetery in Plant City. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider donations towards her headstone in care of Ronnie Hackney or Jina Del Castillo.
