Shannon Paul Schmidt

Shannon was born on July 10, 1969 in Amarillo, Texas to his parents John Thomas Schmidt and Patricia (LaDuke) Schmidt.

Shannon grew up in Plano, Texas where he made some of his dearest friendships. He attended Stephen F. Austin University in Nacogdoches, Texas where he met the love of his life Kristie Thomas. They married on July 27, 1996 in San Augustine, Texas.

He not only was a wonderful husband to Kristie Schmidt, but he was a beloved father to his three children, Claire Anne Schmidt, Jennifer Renee Schmidt, and John Thomas Schmidt III. He and Kristie raised their children in Shannon’s hometown of Plano, Texas.

He is also survived by his sister, Lisa Schmidt of Hickory Creek, Texas.

He is preceded in death by his father John Thomas Schmidt, his mother Patricia Schmidt, and brother John Thomas Schmidt Jr.

Shannon was known for his love of football, fishing, golf, and hunting. If the Dallas Cowboys or Texas A&M were playing– you would know where to find him. Before cell phones Kristie always knew that Shannon and his best friend would either be fishing, bird hunting, or playing golf depending on the season–and even after cell phones that was a sure bet. You would often find him with his family whom he loved deeply, cared for well, and sacrificed for daily.

A Memorial Service & Celebration of life will be held on Friday, November 18, 2022 at 3:00 PM at the Watermark Community Church Chapel, located at 7540 Lyndon B. Johnson Freeway, Dallas, Texas 75251.
