Raymond Edward Smith, 65, of Richardson, left this earth on Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2015. Born July 20, 1950, “Eddie” was a wild one from the start. He was free-spirited and charming: a combination not unlike gasoline and matches. Later, he became a successful hardware salesman — making friends with anyone whether they wanted it or not.
He is survived by his wife, Karen Smith; son, Dustin Smith; daughter and son-in-law, Mandy & John Paul Jay; sister and brother-in-law, Rita & Jim Van Hooser; step-sons, Gary & Greg Gaines; niece and nephews, Aimee, David & Jason Corbett + families; grandchildren, Rylee, Bailey & Kyler Jay and Erin & Garrison Gaines; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and an unimaginably loud dog named Buddy. He is preceded in death by his loving parents, Raymond P. & Dorothy Lee Smith and his prized 1996 collector’s edition Corvette.
A service will be held at 2 pm at the Ted Dickey Funeral Home in Plano, followed by a reception to laugh, cry and place blame with those who loved Eddie most.
