Jerry Webb, of Dallas, Texas died January 3, 2016. He was 83 years old, born in Midland, Texas on February 9th, 1932, the youngest child of Rhoda Pender Webb and John David Webb. He was preceded in death by his siblings Vera, Lowell, and Kenneth.
Jerry grew up in Midland, attended Midland High School and graduated in 1949. After graduation he left for Texas Tech University in Lubbock. Jerry served in the Army for a short time, and after returning from his service, finished his Bachelors Degree in Petroleum Engineering at the University of Houston.
As a Petroleum Engineer, Jerry had a long career in the oil business, working for numerous oil companies, including Chevron, Mobile, and several smaller companies for the next 50 years. He also enjoyed the classes he taught at Western Texas College. He was also elected to the city council in Snyder, Texas.
Jerry met Martha Ellen Smith while at Texas Tech and they were married in 1958. Martha passed away in 1996 after nearly 38 years of marriage. Jerry met Joyce Coffman in 1996 married her in 1999 and they had 16 years together.
Jerry is survived by his wife Joyce, two sons, David Webb of Parker, Colorado, and Doug Webb of Ladera Ranch, California, a brother-in-law Alan Smith of Stow-on-Wold, UK, a step-daughter Rebecca Holbrook of Dallas, Texas, 2 step-sons James and Jay Blount of Dallas, 3 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren.
Donations to the Salvation Army or Dallas Children’s Hospital are suggested in lieu of flowers.
