Janet Atkinson-Brilliant

Janet was born October 20,1949 in Cumberland, MD, the daughter of Harry and Lois Atkinson. She attended Allegany College of Maryland, Towson University, and the University of Texas at Dallas. She came to Dallas to work at Mary Kay and advanced her way through the corporate ranks for 39 years until her retirement in 2011. On July 20, 1993, she married the love of her life Henry Brilliant.

Janet loved to have fun, laugh, dance, and travel. New Year celebrations were a time for her to gather friends for a lobster dinner, wear funny hats, and catch up on the news of the year. Janet loved to dance and took dancing lessons for years to learn some new steps and dances and enjoy the company of others. She and Henry had a passion for traveling around the country and sailing on their boat. Janet was sure to document these adventures with pictures and notes. Their personalities made it easy to make acquaintances wherever their travels took them.

Janet took great pride in her appearance aaand was always elegantly dressed in the current fashion. Daily she could be seen walking the neighborhood with her beloved boxer, Cooper, who was also decked out in a fancy collar, scarf and sometimes ever holiday attire.

Janet is predeceased by her husband, Henry Brilliant, and her father and mother Harry and Lois Atkinson. Those family members that will miss her the most are her brother and his wife , Doug and Virginia Atkinson, nephew Jay Atkinson, cousin Sandy Bailey, niece Candy Barnthouse and her husband Tim, and a host of family members, friends, and "The Roaring Lambs".
