It is with tremendous sadness to announce that Mr. Faron Lee Key, 62, lost his battle with Lou Gherig’s disease ( ALS ) on Monday, November 13, 2023. He was born July 11,1961 to Elvis Elmo Key and Rosane Wielandt.
Faron, named after country music singer Faron Young, loved people, music, football,
motorcycles, rodeo, golf, and coors beer! If he wasn’t riding his motorcycle to watch rodeo or football, or hit the tee box, or watch a band, he was playing with his animals and loving his wife, Shannon Kramer-Key. In the words of his mother - in - law upon first meeting, Faron was a “tall drink of water” with a warm smile and a kind heart.
Faron spent a good deal of time in North Carolina, Fort Bragg, as he served the United States in the Army Special Forces. He loved his country. Faron was never apprehensive about letting folks know exactly his thoughts on our duty as American citizens and what being patriotic should mean to all.
Faron made the decision to leave NC with his father, Elvis and move to Casa Grande, Arizona in the early 2000’s. It was there, he met his wife, Shannon. They married in 2011 in Las Vegas and were joined at the hip. They rode motorcycles, played golf, watched football, and laughed almost everyday. His love, admiration, and devotion to her was undeniable.
Aside from his wife, Faron leaves many dear family and friends, Among them are his sister, Brenda Bernier, his in-laws, Rod and Barbara Kramer, Melissa Morton, his army comrade, Mic Nielsen, his children, Olivia and Justin, two nephews and two nieces. As for his furry friends, he will miss playing with Sir Oscar, a loveable yet anxious Shorkie.
Although he will be throwing his “party” and receiving proper military services at another time, we will be celebrating his life here in Texas. The service will be held at 2:00 pm at Life Church, McKinney located at 250 N. Hardin Blvd, 75071. Motorcycles are welcomed and encouraged.
Faron is free of illness now. He is free and capable of doing everything he ever loved. In the words of his most favorite Lynyrd Skynyrd song he is a free bird watching over all of us.
“If I leave here tomorrow, Would you still remember me? For I must be traveling on now 'Cause there's too many places I've got to see But if I stay here with you, girl Things just couldn't be the same 'Cause I'm as free as a bird now”
