He leaves his wife of 35 years, Jan Schroeder; his son, Larry Wilson and wife Karen; his son, Gary Wilson and wife Alison, and daughter Barbara Wilson. He also leaves step-daughters Becca Clark and partner Sheryl Adair, and Cyd Elliott and husband Brad; as well as step-son David Clark and his wife Shana; 13 grandchildren, and many friends.
Born in Ouachita County, Arkansas, he was raised in Camden, Arkansas. After graduating from Camden High School, he briefly attended Magnolia A&M in Magnolia, Arkansas. In 1951, he entered Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, Louisiana, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. After graduation, he worked for RCA Victor in Camden, New Jersey. In 1955 Dale entered active duty with the United States Air Force, initially stationed at Lackland Air Force Base, followed by service at Sheppard Air Force Base in Wichita Falls and Hensley Field in Grand Prairie, achieving the rank of Second Lieutenant. In 1957, Dale went to work at Texas Instruments in Dallas. He married Dorothy Jean (Dottie) Hughes in 1960. He graduated with honors from Oregon State University in Corvallis, Oregon, with a Ph.D. in Metallurgical Engineering. Following graduation from OSU, Dale returned to Dallas to work for Mobil Pipeline Corporation, where his job sent him to many parts of the globe. He was active in the American Petroleum Institute, serving as chairman of the API/AGA Joint Committee on Pipeline Welding and was a member of other pipeline standards groups. Dale retired from Mobil Pipeline after 25 years.
Dale and Jan married on January 4,1986 in Plano, Texas. He was a dedicated and loving husband, father and grandfather. His unique sense of humor and calm demeanor made him a favorite with all of his grandchildren. Dale was a devoted member of Allen First Methodist Church. He was known for his honesty and kindness, and as the best neighbor anyone could possibly have. He was happiest when with family or working in the yard or around the house. He was the rock of his family.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Uriah and Mary Rogers Wilson; his brothers Guy David Wilson, John Turner Wilson, and Herbert Rogers Wilson; and also by his sister, Vera Lorraine Wilson.
The Funeral Service for Dale will be held on Thursday, April 22, 2021 at 1:00 PM at the First United Methodist Church of Allen, located at 601 South Greenville Avenue, Allen, Texas 75002.
Burial will follow at Plano Mutual Cemetery.
