Betsy Ross Heid

Born on January 12, 1943, in Mansfield, Ohio, Betsy was the beloved daughter of Ross and Louise Sams.

Betsy pursued her passion for education, earning a Bachelor of Science in Education from Ohio University. She dedicated her career to nurturing young minds as a lower elementary and preschool teacher, leaving a lasting impact on countless students.

On September 4, 1965, Betsy married the love of her life, Stephen Lewis Heid, with whom she shared a beautiful journey until his passing. Together, they raised two sons, Stephen Lewis Heid Jr., married to Jennifer, and Scott Matthew Heid, married to Shannon. Betsy was a devoted grandmother to Dillon, Ashley, and Samantha, who were the light of her life.

Betsy is survived by her cherished family, including her brother Robert (Bob) Sams and his wife Susie, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved husband, Stephen.

Known for her kindness, generosity, and unwavering love for her grandchildren, Betsy touched the lives of all who knew her. Her legacy of compassion and dedication to family and education will be fondly remembered.

A memorial service to honor Betsy's life will be held at Ted Dickey Funeral Home on December 17, 2024, at 12:00 p.m., with visitation beginning at 11:00 a.m. Family and friends are invited to celebrate the life of a remarkable woman who will be deeply missed but forever cherished in our hearts.
