Colette Cecelia Johnson

Colette was born in Long Beach, California on April 11, 1938 and moved to the Placerville area in 1967, where she started attending St. Patrick Church and, for 18 years, she was the organist there. Throughout her years she worked at the Placerville U.S. Forest Service Station for five years and then for the Bureau of Reclamation at the Folsom Lake Dam for another fifteen years and even found herself in Seattle for a year. During this time, she supplemented her work by giving piano lessons and entertaining as a pianist and vocalist at The Carriage Room, The Sierra Nevada House, and Weird Harrold’s before retiring to Placerville around 1998 to be closer to her family.

Colette was always full of love for her family, friends and faith. She was witty, positive and always had a great smile on her face that would brighten up everyone’s day. She enjoyed being with her children, going to Caples Lake, floating on a raft, praying, going to musical productions, watching movies, being in cool weather, playing her piano, listening to music on big stereos, going out to eat with friends, and knitting. She loved everyone especially the little ones. She nurtured, comforted and made everyone feel like family and at home. Colette is loved and will be missed so much by her family and many, many friends.

She is survived by her sister Lucinda Carroll, nephew Brett Miller and her seven children: Erik, Kari, Janeene, Billy, Andy, Kristin, Kathy, 12 Grandchildren and 8 Great Grandchildren.

Colette’s funeral service will be held on Friday, April 13th, 2018 at St. Patrick Catholic Church located at 3109 Sacramento Street, Placerville, California. A viewing will take place from 9:30 am to 10:30 am, the Rosary will start at 10:30 am, and the Mass will begin at 11:00 am, with burial to follow at St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery, 895 Green Street, Placerville, California.
