Rosie touched so many lives over her long life and loved and was loved by them all. Love doesn’t die, the body does, so she will always be with all of us that loved her.
Loving wife of the late Chuck, “Charlie”, who she lost in 2013 after 63 years of marriage; she was an amazing, loving, caring considerate mom to Charles A. Turack (Becky), Nancy Bonner (Clark), Peggy Kennetz (Dennis), and informally adoptive mom to Debbie Cerilli (John). She will be remembered for her complete devotion and love for her grandchildren Erin, Charles Alex, Mike, Lindsay, Dennis, Nicole, Kaitlyn, Anthony and her eight great grandchildren who affectional called her “GG ROSIE” Alexa Rose, Hanna, Brandy, Parker Noah, Leah, Charlie and Noah. Sister to loving and caring Anna and Hilda and the late Josephine Dax Harame, John, Jr. and Frankie Dax. Survived by many nieces and nephews and close friends Louise Yovanovich and Pat Lane among countless others.
Rosie was born in Austria and immigrated through Ellis Island at the age of 3 with her Mother Rose, John, Jr. and “Jo”, joining her father, John Sr., who established a family home on Homer Ave. in Pittsburgh. Growing up during the Depression she forged a strong character and will that carried her throughout her life. It was an instilled belief that everyone always ate everything on their plate, which was easy because she was such a master chef in the kitchen. Nothing was ever wasted, ever. She was a devout Catholic and loved all church festivals. Rosie met the love of her life Chuck while dancing at the end of World War ll. She cherished her big family gatherings, they were always very special to her.
Friends and Family are welcomed at the H.P. Brandt Funeral Home 1032 Perry Hwy Pittsburgh PA 15237 from 4pm to 8pm on Tuesday August 24, 2021. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St Teresa of Avila on Wednesday August 25, 2021 at 10am. Burial at St. Mary's Cemetery Mt. Troy to follow.
