Mary E. McCune

Mary E. (King) McCune, age 57, passed away on Wednesday, December 5th, surrounded by her family. Mary was the loving wife of William McCune; daughter of William and Margaret King; beloved mother of Kathryn Rush, Alicia (Robert) Terhune, Rachel McCune, Alex (Michaela) McCune; and cherished Nana of Lucy Thompson and Anderson, Bart, Joshua, and Noel Terhune. She is preceded in death by her daughter, Kathryn Rush, and her father, William King. She is survived by 6 loving brothers and a sister--her lifelong best friend.

Mary lived a life marked by selfless love for her family and friends. She was always willing to lend a hand or a compassionate ear and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She taught her family to embrace life's challenges with strength and love. Mary cherished her relationships the most, but she also enjoyed animals, gardening, baking (and eating!) sweets, and spoiling her grandchildren. She taught us to love others well and to always save room for dessert.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the many friends and family members who supported Mary and our family during her long battle with cancer. She fought with grace and dignity, never wanting to miss a moment with her loved ones. She held tightly to her faith and the many people who loved and cared for her. A special thanks to the UPMC Cancer Center and Family Hospice for their incredible care and support.

Friends of Mary will be received from 2-4pm and 6-8pm on Sunday, December 9 at H.P. Brandt Funeral Home, Inc., 1032 Perry Hwy, Ross Twp. (412-364-4444). A mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, December 10 at 10am at St. Teresa of Avila Church, 1000 Avila Ct., Pittsburgh, PA 15237. Burial to follow at St. Augustine Cemetery. 250 Wible Run Rd, Pittsburgh, PA 15209.
