Easley, South Carolina – Mrs. Mary Jean Horton, Age 90, went to be with her Lord and Savior on November 11, 2020. Born in Spartanburg, South Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Israel and Glennie Belle Israel and loving wife to the late David Buckalue Wright, the late Cole Bryant and the late Alton H. Horton.
Survivors include daughters Linda Cantrell of Easley, South Carolina and Debbie Wright (Jessy Frost) of Pickens, South Carolina. Mrs Horton is survived by one remaining brother Bob Israel from Inman, South Carolina. Also surviving is grandchildren Monica French (Timmy) of Little Mountain, South Carolina; Ashley Amick (Royce) of Irmo, South Carolina; Jeannie Hommerding of Easley, South Carolina; Suzy wells of Easley, South Carolina and Israel David Wright (Stephanie) of Seneca, South Carolina and great grandchildren Jamie French; Savannah French; Wesley Amick; Oscar Amick; Brady Wells; Kristin Wells; Keegan Hommerding; Santana Hommerding and Gracelynn Rose Wright.
Mrs. Horton was pre-deceased by a son Thomas David Wright, sisters Elizabeth Web, Evelyn Dillard, Nancy Noland and brothers Thomas Israel; Ben Israel; Bill Israel and Jim Israel.
Mrs. Horton was a very humble and sweet woman. Her smile and laugh was contagious and very powerful. She was adored by her grandchildren for her charisma. She never complained and loved her family. She loved shopping with her late sister Nancy. She frequented the Pickens Flea Market on Wednesday. She was a seamstress by trade and loved making dolls and Barbie clothes for her granddaughters and picnics in the mountains with her grandson.
A visitation will be held at the Dillard Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday November 14, 2020 at 2:00 PM until 3:15 PM, 2402 Gentry Memorial Hwy Pickens, South Carolina 29671. A graveside will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park at 3:15 PM officiated by Jonathan Day.
