Pat was born in Soddy-Daisy, TN on June 14, 1934 to the late Fletcher Chapman Renfro and Ann Evelyn Ledford Renfro. She worked for over 15 years for the Dupont Company in Chattanooga before relocating to Camden, SC with her husband, where she became a successful businesswoman by opening Pat Burton Realty which she owned and operated for around 15 years. While in Camden, she was a member of Camden First Baptist Church where she was very active as a Sunday School teacher, involved with the youth programs, and was a member of the softball team. She was a member of the USTA where she served as a captain of her team. An amazing athlete, Pat went on to compete and win several gold medals in the US Senior Olympics in both team sports and multiple track and field events. Pat and O'Neil retired to the Clemson area where in her later years, she enjoyed being with her family and cooking with them.
In addition to her loving husband of 57 years, Pat is survived by a son: O'Neil "Neil" Burton III (Denise) of Clemson; a daughter: Stephanie Lynn Mitchell (Jefferson IV) of Wilton, CT; six grandchildren: Connor O'Neil Burton, Grace Ellen Burton, Mary Claire Burton, Isabelle Vaughan Mitchell, Ian Bronson Burton, and Jefferson Woolf Mitchell V; and a sister: Shirley Thompson.
In addition to her parents, Pat was preceded in death by five siblings: Barbara, Larry, Pansy, Jimmy, and Beverly.
Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 Noon on Thursday, February 3, 2022 in the Chapel of Dillard Funeral Home with interment to follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
No formal visitation is planned, but the family will be available to speak with visitors at the gravesite following the services.
