Easley, SC - Mr. Jerry Bruce Rogers, Jr. 82, passed away Monday, April 12, 2021 at Prisma Health Baptist Easley Hospital. Nine days later on April 21, 2021, his loving wife of 59 years, Mrs. Eva Jean Hayes Rogers, 76 passed away at Prisma Health Baptist Easley Hospital.
Jerry was born in Easley on April 6, 1939 to the late Jerry Bruce Rogers Sr. and Beulah May Sweazy Rogers. He retired from Alice Manufacturing as a Fixer, then worked for Baptist Medical Center in Easley. He was also the former station manager for WELP Radio in Easley. Jerry was a U.S. Air Force Veteran.
Jean was born in Greenville on August 31, 1944 to the late James Clero and Essie Mabel Turner Hayes. She retired from Baptist Easley Hospital as a Supply Specialist. She was very active in Children's ministry in Churches throughout her life.
Jerry and Jean were both members of Jones Avenue Baptist Church, where they were very active in all aspects of ministry.
Jerry and Jean are survived by three children: Keith Rogers (Vivian) of Easley, Scott Rogers (Shannah) of Liberty, and Allison Vaughn (Billy Hiott) of Liberty; eight grandchildren: Joshua Rogers (Denise), Jason Rogers (Hannah), Jonathan Rogers, Lance Rogers, Jacob Rogers, Addison Gantt, Jacob Gantt, and Jasmine Raye; and thirteen great-grandchildren. Jean is also survived by a sister: Edith McAlister of Six Mile.
In addition to their parents, Jerry was preceded in death by a sister: Carol Bryant. Jean was preceded in death by two sisters: Ina Mae Chapman and Elizabeth Cobb; and a brother: Captain J.C. Hayes.
A memorial service will be held for Jerry and Jean on Saturday, May 1, 2021 at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Dillard Funeral Home. Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, masks will be required to attend the service and social distancing will be observed.
The family will receive friends following the service in the Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the RTD Fund of Jones Avenue Baptist Church; 614 Ross Ave, Easley, SC 29640.
