Clyde R. Gilstrap Pickens, SC Clyde Raymond Gilstrap, 83, of Pumpkintown Highway, passed away Wednesday, September 10, 2014 at his home. Born in Sunset, SC, he was the son of the late Van Grover Gilstrap and Rosa Stewart Gilstrap. Mr. Gilstrap was retired after 27 years of military service. He served 3 years in the US Army during the Korean War where he was awarded the Purple Heart. The remainder of his service was in the US Air Force. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Chapel in Pickens, a member of the Keowee Masonic Lodge #79 A.F.M and the Summerville Masonic Lodge #234 A.F.M. He was also the Past Master of the Keowee and Summerville Lodges, the Past Grandmaster District Deputy of the 16th District in South Carolina, Scottish Rites and was a Hejaz Shriner. Surviving are his wife of the home, Doris Spearman Gilstrap; three sons, Randell Gilstrap (Jerilyen) and Roger Gilstrap (Barbara) all of Summerville, SC and James Gilstrap (Sonya) of Colbert, GA; eight grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; and two brothers, J.W. Gilstrap of Greenville and Olus Gilstrap of Easley. In addition to his parents, Mr. Gilstrap was predeceased by a granddaughter, Jennifer Gilstrap. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of Lutheran Hospice for the compassion and exceptional care provided to Mr. Gilstrap. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 13, 2014 at 3:00 PM in the chapel of Dillard Funeral Home with burial to follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park with full military honors and masonic rites. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:30 PM until 2:45 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Faith Lutheran Chapel, 729 W.
