Reverend Carlyle M. Duckworth, age 71, of Pickens, South Carolina went to heaven to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, September 3, 2021. Carlyle was born November 2, 1949, in Pickens County, a son of the late James Edgar and Agnes Waldrop Capps.
Carlyle was a loving, hardworking, man of God. He enjoyed meeting new people and telling them about Jesus. On August 24, 1968, he said "I Do" to the love of his life, Doris James Duckworth. Together, they began an incredible journey of serving God, raising a family, and making wonderful memories. He founded C &M Gas Company in Pickens in 1976 and served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Carlyle enjoyed traveling. He and Doris visited many places around the country, cruised and went on mission trips. When he wasn't traveling, Carlyle enjoyed being outdoors on his tractor. He was a member of Landmark Baptist Church.
Along with his loving wife, Carlyle is survived by his daughter Tammy Byers (David), son Terry Duckworth (Tracy), brother Bill Duckworth (Carolyn), sister Doris Evette, and sister-in-law Jennie Duckworth. He also leaves behind to cherish his memory, his grandchildren Katrina Alexander (Trey), Sean Byers, Hunter Duckworth, and Logan Hall; his great-granddaughter Chesnee Alexander and his great-grandbaby on the way, Paislee Alexander. He is also survived by his two special friends, Linda and Hubert Pack.
Carlyle was preceded in death by his brother Ray Duckworth and sister, Lola Mae Pierce.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 7, 2021, from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. at Dillard Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow in the Dillard Funeral Home Chapel at 11 a.m. with Reverend Gary Edwards officiating. The committal service will be held at Hillcrest Memorial Park with Reverend Randy McAlister officiating.
