Tommie Dale Peoples, better known by his many friends as Tom, passed away on September 3, 2014 at the age of 70 after a courageous battle with a long illness. His devotion to his family and his firm belief in God supported him in his struggle and ultimately gave him peace.
Tom was born in Greenwood, Arkansas on March 9, 1944. His family later moved to California where he was blessed to meet and marry his best friend and schoolmate Gail Lynn (Griffith) Peoples. Tom joined the U.S. Air Force and served during the Vietnam War. In the early 70’s the family moved to Prescott, Arizona, where Tom helped raise his sons and shared his talents and time coaching Little League Baseball, and Pop Warner Football. He and Gail have lived in Desert Hills for the last 14 years where they have been active in their local church and Tom has had the opportunity to pursue his love of horses.
Tom took great pride in his family and being an excellent story teller, loved to share stories about them. He was a kind and giving person who was always happy to help others, and was always there to listen or help solve a problem, no matter how small. He will be dearly missed by his loved ones, who celebrate the fact that he is now at peace.
Tom is survived by his wife of nearly 50 years, Gail; his sons Darren and Robert, Robert’s wife Sabrina; and his grandchildren Payton and David. He is also survived by his sisters Gayle, Jan, Jeannie, his brothers Dennis, David, Gary and Rick and many other extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents Otis and Betty Peoples.
Funeral Services for Tom will be held Friday, September 12, 2014, 10:30am at Black Mountain Baptist Church 33955 N. Cave Creek Rd., Cave Creek, AZ.
