Sylvia was born on the 28th of July, 1958 in Pecos, Texas to Tomas and Emma Briones. She moved to Phoenix, Arizona when she was 12 years old and was amazed by all the palm trees. Something she had never seen in real life before, only on television. She grew up in South Phoenix where she met and married her husband of 38 years, Gilbert Moreno, on the 8th of October of 1982. Sylvia gave birth to her two beautiful children Celissia Garcia (1984) and Daniel Moreno (1986). Sylvia loved with her whole heart and did absolutely everything for her children and her family. She was so proud of her daughter who is an educator and her son who serves in the U.S. Army. Sylvia received her most beloved and anticipated title as Grandma to her precious and only grandchild Leo Garcia. His Grandma prayed for Leo before he even entered this Earth. Sylvia retired from the Paradise Valley School District after 28 years to become the primary caregiver to her grandson. Leo and his Grandma spent every day together since his birth in 2019. She taught Leo so many things and the love and bond they share is immeasurable. Sylvia would often say that Leo was the light of her life. She will be greatly missed by her son-in-law Jesus Garcia and daughter-in-law Julia Moreno whom she loved and treated like her own children.
Sylvia was such a loving, caring and beautiful soul. She loved unconditionally and made every person she knew feel special and loved. She would do anything for her family and friends. Her beloved surviving family members whose love for her was immense include her parents, her surviving brother Tim Briones (she joins her brothers Rudy and Tommy in Heaven), countless nieces and nephews and extended family. She also leaves behind many lifelong friendships. Sylvia touched so many lives and was loved by all those who knew her. She was a fighter and so strong, beating breast cancer in 2006. She was thankful every day to have had more time to be with her family. She had many plans for her life; adventures she wanted to take, experiences she wanted to share with her children and grandchild and future grandchildren, plans with her husband, family, and friends. It is now up to all who loved her to live their life in honor of her. May the life she lived here on Earth and the love she gave be celebrated on Sunday the 11th of April, 2021 at Phoenix Memorial Park at 9:30 a.m. located on 200 West Beardsley Road, Phoenix, AZ 85027. PLEASE WEAR WHITE. Celebration of life continues after her graveside memorial service at her daughter’s home. The family wishes to express their appreciation and gratitude for all who have provided loving support during this unimaginable and difficult time.
“I know for certain that we never lose the people we love, even in death. They continue to participate in every act, thought and decision we make. Their love leaves an indelible imprint in our memories. We find comfort in knowing that our lives have been enriched by having shared their love.” And wow, Sylvia’s love the absolute BEST!
