Robert "Bob" Eugene Thompson, of Glendale, Arizona passed away on October 25, 2024, at the age of 70. Bob was born on January 20, 1954 in Morris, Illinois. Bob was the husband of Tracy Thompson and son of Harold Eugene and Alma Sarah (Jacobson) Thompson.
Sometimes in life you come across that person that is truly special to everyone they meet. Bob was that person. Bob had a passion for life, his girls, his wife, and sports that was unmatched. He woke up every day and asked himself what he was going to do to have fun that day.
Bob grew up in Morris playing baseball any chance he got. After graduating Morris High School, he stayed close to home and went to college at Joliet Community College. Eager to escape the cold and snow of the Midwest, he went to Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, Florida where he played baseball and graduated with a degree in Business Administration. Upon graduating, he got his first job at Oki Electronics in Florida and began his career in the aerospace industry as a buyer. He moved to Phoenix, Arizona in 1991 to complete his career with Honeywell and Applied Engineering before retiring in 2017.
Bob had an endearing love for his parents. He supported his mom endlessly throughout her journey with cancer until her passing in 2000. He then continued to support his dad throughout his life until he passed away in 2018. Sometimes in life, however, your family becomes those that you care most about. This was the case for Bob. He was so proud of Abby and Katie from day one. Every person he encountered, he took the opportunity to boast about his girls. In his eyes, they could do no wrong and deserve only the best. Bob also loved Abby’s husband, Andrew. He bragged about his golf-loving, fire-fighting son-in-law at every chance. When his grandson Carson was born, Bob thrived as a doting grandpa. Of course there are his dogs, Scout and Shadow. He was a proud Brittany Dad and whenever someone new asked about his family, Scout and Shadow were always included. This created confusion to others at times, but not to Bob.
Rachel and Jamie Dills along with their sons, Cameron and Ryan were also a tremendous part of Bob’s life and his family. They supported each other, traveled together, celebrated holidays and birthdays together, and were a main part of Bob’s family in their years of friendship.
Bob lived a wonderful, regret-free life, however, he continually professed that his best days were those he spent with his wife, Tracy. Bob and Tracy were perfect for each other and enjoyed every day, laughed every day, and loved every day they were together. Their shared love for travel, sports, the girls, their grandson, and each other provided memories to last a lifetime. Bob's sense of humor, generosity, and overall loving nature will be missed dearly.
Bob is survived by his wife, Tracy (Fazio) Thompson; his daughters, Abby (Andrew) Waltenburg and Katie Fazio; his grandson, Carson Waltenburg; his stepson, Adam Beasley; his in-laws Dick and Judy Fazio; his brother-in-law Todd (Charlene) Fazio; his sister Sherry Eppler; many cousins, nieces and nephews strewn across many states including Arizona, Georgia, and Illinois and others. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Alma Thompson.
