77, of Elgin, AZ passed away on 7/12/2011. On Tuesday July 12, 2011 Robert V. Garcia entered into rest with the Lord. He leaves his footprints of life with his wife Fern, his 7 Children (Ed, Ruth, Bobby, Liz, Randy, Terri and Laurie), 18 Grandchildren and 6 great Grandchildren. Robert (aka: Bob/Butch/Garcia/Tata) was born in Los Angeles, California on 12/15/1933 to the parents of Lorenzo Garcia and Virginia Valencia Garcia. He graduated from Tucson High School in 1951 and was employed with Hughes Aircraft in Tucson and then moved onto the Phoenix Valley to work for Motorola Semiconductor where he retired in 1998. Robert had a passion for the outdoors. He took pleasure in hunting and fishing whenever he could but most of all he enjoyed his family. He went on many camping trips with his children and grandchildren showing them the ways of the wilderness and the importance in respect for nature through plant live and animals and insects of all shapes and sizes. Which is why his home was filled with noise and laughter of the variety of pets from dogs, chickens, guinea pigs, turtles, ducks and chipmunks to lizards, snakes, and tarantulas his kids grew up with. He was truly a humanitarian for all. Around the year 2000, Robert and his wife Fern moved into their retirement home they designed and had built in Elgin, AZ (about an hour Southeast of Tucson). Their house was centered on a hill overlooking the different mountain ranges within this beautiful wine-country valley. Bob had been living with Alzheimer's for about the last 7 years and after less than 2 weeks while developing complications with pneumonia he was given his angel wings. Those who were touched by this man understood that the quality of existence far exceeds the quantity of time in which he lived. He gave us all such courage and hope and reminded us of the preciousness of living life to its fullest. Services will be held in Phoenix, Arizona at Resthaven Park - Mortuary & Cemetery, location 4310 E. Southern Ave., Phoenix, AZ 85042. Visitation will be held on Friday July 29th from 5:00PM to 8:00PM with the funeral services on Saturday beginning at 9:00AM. Memories can be viewed and shared at: Dignity Memorial
