My sincerest conodolences on your loss. Robert was my supervisor at Motorola in the late 60's. He was a most considerate and gentleman. At that time, my husband was dying due to an auto accident. Robert was there for me with gentle words and extra breaks. I thank God I got to meet such a gentle-man. The community has also lost a great man and friend.

This was a shocker to me since I had not seen him since I left Motorola in 1969.

For many years, the cafeteria at Motorola was full of hunting stories, and Bob Garcia told his share. So those of us who worked with him long ago will always remember that part of his life and ours. Thanks for sharing the photos. And when you walk (or ride) in the wild places, you will feel some of what he felt for this land.

The photos of Bob were very touching. I knew Bob since I was about 12 years old. Being the neighbor kid next door, Bob always invited me to go along because he knew how much I loved the outdoors and hunting. Bob taught me how to hunt and I went with him for many years, on into adulthood. Now I hunt all over the world thanks to Bob's mentoring. Keeping up with that old mountain goat though was a chore when I was young. He always had to climb one more mountain to find the next deer or javalina, and we normally brought home the meat. My favorite time was when I was about 23, we hunted near Sonoita, and that year I shot the first buck in camp.... Yea "the gringo" finally beat group of oldster to the first buck... and the price was that everyone in camp had to get up and get you your beer when you call for a fresh one. I had lots of fun and really enjoyed camping and all his family and friends. He will be greatly missed.

He is now in great hunting grounds with the rest of eternity to cover one more mountain and one more sunset.

WHEN BUTCH WAS LIVING IN TUCSON OUR FRIENDSHIP WAS VERY CLOSE WE WERE FOREVER GOING OUT, WHEN YOU WERE BORN EDDIE I WAS HONORED TO BE ASK BY BUTCH AND CECILA YOUR MOM TO BE YOUR GODFATHER, I KNOW I HADENT SEEN YOUR FATHER IN YEARS AS I LIVE IN MEXICO I WILL ALWAYS REMENBER BUTCH AS A KIND AND LOVING PERSON.

Bob Garcia was one of my very best friends. We first met in 1955 at Hughes Aircraft Company in Tucson Arizona. We were employed as Precision Assemblers in what was known as "Dust Free", now known as a Clean Room. Our job was to repair or rework Electr-Mechanical Guidance Units for the Falcon Missile; the most successful Air-To-Air Missle in the world at that time.We worked together until 1968 when he moved to Phoenix to work for Motorola.
Bob and I hit it off right away due to the fact we loved to hunt and be in the great outdoors. We went hunting, camping, boating and partying together with our families, for about 48 years until he became ill. During all those years we became like brothers. In 1961 Bob became my Compadre when we Baptized my Son Greg. He called me Compa after that. I always called him Bob or Garcia.
All My Kids loved Bob and called him Garcia. He was always joking and playing around with them. He liked to wrestle with them(the Boys) and would always threaten them with the dreaded "Garcia Hold" (whatever that was).
Bob loved people, animals and nature. He was an excellent Gardner. When we would visit him in Phoenix his back yard looked like a Zoo and a Jungle.
Sometimes He got carried away with his love for God,s creatures. One of which I thought were dangerous-Rattlsnakes! Once in the 1970's when we were on a Houseboat trip on Lake Mead, he had an encounter with a huge Rattler. We were trying to beach my 20' Sea Ray Boat. Bob jumped off the front end of the boat and landed astraddle a huge Rattler. You should have seen jump back into the boat! But, he would not allow us kill it. Some years later he was bitten by a Rattler on the thumb. He had picked it up too far back of the head, so it turned and nicked his thumb. After that he did not pick anymore Rattlers. But, He would still never kill one.
In 1990 Bob and Fern bought 10 Acres in the Elgin Area about a mile from Linda's and My place. In 2003 I drew up the Plans, per their design, and acted as the General Contractor in building their Retiremnt Home. It was this time that I first noticed that  Bob was having memory problems. He and Dave, Bob and Ferns Son-Law, were doing the electrical wiring on the house. It was then that I noticed he could not remember some of the details of doing the job. I was sorry to see this, because in his days at Hughes, he handled very intricate work with no problems.
Fern, I want to thank You for the excellent care you have given him all these years!
The Garcia Family, you should be very proud of Mr. Robert V. Garcia, as I am.

Dear Uncle Butch, I so wish I could have said goodbye, at least sometime over these long years since I last saw you. But just know that I love you, and you made a great impression on me. I'll always remember your fun and sarcasm (even when I was the subject), and I knew you were looking out for me.

To Fern and all of Robert's loved ones.  We will miss Robert, his friendliness, smile, hospitality and love of brownies.  We are thankful for his last visit to the Hatter clan in Illinois.  God bless you Fern for taking such good care of Robert.  May God wrap his arms around all who love Robert to comfort them and ease the sorrow of their loss.  We will treasure our memories of Robert and have pictures of the good times we shared with him.  We love you Fern and wish we could be there to give you hugs.
