Marsha graduated from Kenilworth Elementary and West High School. She was top in her class and attended Girls State during her senior year at West High. Marsha attended the University of Arizona, joining the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. During her time in college, she made many friends and was known for her quick wit and her academic aptitude. After graduating with a degree in education she briefly taught school but soon turned her attention to raising her two children full-time.
Marsha dealt with some enormous obstacles during her life. In 1983 at the age of 38 years old, she suffered a major stroke that left her partially paralyzed and affected her speech. Living with this difficulty for the remainder of her life was a burden that she bore with grace and strength. Despite her limitations, she was always able to communicate her deep love for her children.
Marsha had a special affinity for her summer home and community at the Iron Springs Club, outside of Prescott. She made many friendships over the years in Iron Springs and created fond memories for her family.
Marsha is survived by her sister Kathryn Walters, sons Michael (Marnie) and Jeffrey (Stacy) Fitzgerald, five grandchildren Kaitlyn (Rob), Ryan, Livi, Sarah, and Annabel, as well as a large extended family of cousins.
A private celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, March 25th at 11:30 am. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heard Museum by contacting Jack Schwimmer at 602.251.0245 or [email protected]. Arrangements were entrusted to A.L. Moore Grimshaw Bethany Chapel.
