Loren Anthony Bowen, beloved father, brother, son, cousin, and friend, suddenly departed this Earth, as the angels reached forth to take his hand into the safe and secure arms of God on Wednesday, April 17, 2024. He was 48 years old.
Loren was born on February 13, 1976 to Terrence and Cathy (Marie Clay) Bowen in Akron, Ohio, as the youngest of their two children. Loren was a very active child. He loved to engage in mischief and was always getting into something. He had adventurous, resolute, personality that followed him his entire life. He played pee-wee football for Kenmore. He was educated through the Akron Public School Systems and Whetstone High School in Columbus. He graduated from Akron’s Kenmore High School in 1995.
Loving to travel, Loren enjoyed traveling to a variety of places. He has lived in Akron, Columbus, Georgia, and lastly settled in El Mirage, Arizona. Looking for new opportunities and careers, he began truck-driving school. He was passionate about school and therefore obtained his CDL on May 11, 2001. As a long distance truck driver, he relished the beautiful landscape as he visited many regions of the country.
If there was one thing Loren was adamant about, it was being a father. He became a father at the tender age of 17 to his eldest daughter, Christiana. Although he was young and still trying to learn to navigate through life, it never prevented him from being involved. Fourteen years later, his heart and spirit expanded as he became a father to Noelani. In 2013, his wish became a reality, when he finally became a father to a son, Loren Jr. His heart became complete. He dedicated his livelihood to provide, raise, and care for his children. He diligently worked to give them each of their wants and needs. They were the center of his world and if you knew Loren, he would talk about his kids more than anything else in the world! Although maintaining a busy schedule, he was unwavering in supporting, spending time, vacationing with them and celebrating their accomplishments. He was so proud of all of them. He greatly adored his son-in-law Martin and built a great father-relationship with him as well. He most recently planned on taking his kids to Las Vegas this summer. He left them with a rich trove of love and memories.
Loren was a very devoted brother and son. He and Demond possessed a special brother to brother relationship, especially as the only two children. He kept up with his parents all the time. He took great pleasure in spending time with his dad when he came home. He worked very hard to help his mother out as well. In her recent sickness, he fervently cared for her and without ceasing, ensured she was comfortable and appropriately aided. He relocated everywhere she did, and nearly five months later, he joined her in their new Heavenly home!
Known for his larger than life personality, Loren was a celebrated people person who never seemed to meet a stranger. If you were a stranger, that was quick to change, as he was extraordinarily social. Although he may have seemed intimidating to those that weren’t familiar with him, he was very kind. However, his kindness was never perceived as weakness, he was quick to chide anyone who showed disrespect to him or anyone he loved. You could always look to Loren for a laugh in any situation. One could be having the worst day and Loren would make light of it and would make you laugh past your issues. He was blunt and always told the truth no matter if it was what you wanted to hear or not, but it was sincere and with love. Loren had no problem helping those in need if he was able to. He was a very dedicated person and passionate about everyone in his life.
His love for football as a child stuck with him his entire life. Though he lived in Arizona, he stayed true to his Midwestern roots when it came to his favorite teams, the Cleveland Browns and Michigan Wolverines. He loved to spend time and travel with his girlfriend Kionna too. Their love was evident to those around them.
Ultimately, Loren was a great father, son, brother and friend to so many people. Though 48 years in this realm seems short, he lived a full life. He left behind a beautiful legacy, leaving his mark on the world and his love, which will forever be etched into the hearts of so many.
Loren was preceded in death by his mother, grandparents Rayfield and Thelma Bowen, Flora Clay, and Howard Washington Sr., aunts Denise and Tanita, and uncles Milton and Darryl.
Loren leaves to rejoice in his loving memory, his greatest life achievements, his children; two beautiful daughters Christiana Dashai Bowen and her husband whom he loved, Martin Osorio, both of Phoenix, Noelani Isabella Yarn of Virginia, and a handsome son, Loren Anthony Bowen Jr. of Phoenix, AZ; father Terrence (Valerie) Bowen of Akron, OH, brother Demond (Sarah) Bowen of Columbus, OH; girlfriend, Kionna Newell of Phoenix; aunts Charlene Clay, Thelma Bowen, Teresa (Mac) Morgan, Shinita Gibson, Shonna (Royce) Smith, and Marjorie Rooks; uncles Johnny (Janet) Washington and Manuel Bowen. He leaves behind many cousins whom he loved and were extremely close to, including Damion, Tyler, Charles, Micah, Todd, Malcolm, Miles, and Brooke; many special friends including Edward “Taz’ Collins Jr., Terry Johnson, Jermaine Manuel, and Yarnell Cunningham and many others who loved him and he loved them in return.
