Lloyd was born on September 29, 1946, in Centerville, Utah, the son of John Lloyd and Lucy Perkins Price.
Lloyd grew up on a farm in West Jordan, Utah. He was the 4th of 8 children. He loved his siblings fiercely. He always worked hard and played hard. He loved his friends, riding horse, and all sports. He excelled in football and wrestling which he played at Bingham High School as well as Snow College.
Lloyd married Donise Sarager on January 25, 1969, in the Mesa, Arizona Temple. They were married for nearly 55 years and have 5 children, 23 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren with 2 more on the way.
Lloyd loved his country. He was a Boy Scout as a youth earning his Eagle Scout Award. As an adult he continued to serve the Boy Scouts attending Wood Badge twice and going on innumerable hikes and campouts. He also served in the Army National Guard, graduating first in his battalion and going on to serve for 6 years, where he became a Paratrooper and Green Beret.
Lloyd loved being outside. He especially loved hiking. You could often find him at Thunderbird, Shaw Butte, or North Mountain preparing to hike the Grand Canyon. He hiked the Grand Canyon at least 15 times. With his trusted team, he taught many groups of youth and their leaders how to repel. He hiked as long as he could and when his illness wouldn’t allow hiking, he biked along canal paths near his home.
