Linda Louise Fannin Rider

Linda Louise Fannin Rider, daughter of former Arizona Governor and United States Senator Paul J. Fannin and Elma Jean Fannin, passed away Wednesday, January 20, 2021. Linda, who was born on August 27, 1943 in Phoenix, was a loving mother and longtime member of the Arizona community.

Linda attended Kenilworth Elementary School and graduated from Scottsdale High School. She married Edgar Clinton Rider Jr. and had three children Edgar III, Paul and Michelle. She was a part of many community activities in Arizona, contributing years of service to organizations such as St. Vincent De Paul, the Red Cross, Arizona Animal Welfare League and Arizona Humane Society. Linda led a remarkable life, filled with ups and downs, throughout which she maintained an enthusiasm and infectious joy for living. Her sense of humor was always present and her smile when you walked through the door made you know you were loved by her and made you feel that there was no one she would rather see. Her belief that “everything will be ok” comforted many who came to visit with her. Her wisdom and good nature will be missed by all who knew her.

Linda is preceded in death by her Father and Mother, brother Tom Fannin (Marianne), and niece Mary Todd Fannin.

Linda is survived by her children Edgar Rider III, Michelle Lawrie (Bill) and Paul Rider (Errin), adored granddaughter Noor Rider, brothers Bob Fannin (Lisa) and Bill Fannin (Kate). Linda will also be fondly remembered by nephews and nieces Paul Fannin (Sharon), Sheryl Fannin Bland (Mitch), Joe Fannin (and their mother Colleen), Tammy Fannin, Matthew Fannin and Sean Fannin (Lori).

Linda’s family wishes to thank Tess and Ron Baylon, and all the caregivers at Best Care Moon Valley, where Linda lived and was loved for several years. The healthcare workers at John C. Lincoln North Mountain also made the final days of Linda’s life the best possible.

A private service will be held to celebrate Linda’s life. In memory of Linda’s life and love for animals, please consider a donation in her name to the Arizona Animal Welfare League, 25 North 40th Street, Phoenix, AZ 85034.
