Laura Mary Young

On the morning of July 6th, 2024, we lost our beloved Laura M. Young (née Jones). Laura was born on March 16th, 1953 at St. Joe’s Hospital in Mankato, MN. She was predeceased by parents', Les and Eleanor Jones (née Friedrichs), sister Mary, brother Eugene, and sister Julie Deiteman (née Jones).

After graduating from St. Clair Grade School/High School in 1971, Laura moved to Phoenix, AZ and was employed at the AZ Republic newspaper. Laura met Robert (husband) in August of 1974 and they married on December 22nd, 1974 at Luke Air Force Base, Glendale, AZ. Laura and Robert were married for 49 1/2 years prior to her passing. Laura left the AZ Republic and began working at Luke Air Force Base’s Federal Credit Union following their move to base housing in 1975.

Somehow, Laura managed to attend massage therapy school and later mastered the technique of “Bowen”, a special type of massage therapy. During Laura’s time as a massage therapist, she was able to go from having clients to having friends. Someone once said, a person’s true wealth is not measured by the amount of money one acquired, but by the number of friends one had. If that is true, then Laura was a gazillionaire!

Laura is survived by her husband, Robert, son CJ (April), daughter Maggie Beth, step-son Rob (Carrie), grandchildren Caleb (fiancé Liz), Kylee, step-grandchildren Christina, Robin, Ryan, and 11 siblings - Les, Dennis, John, Joan, Susan, David, Tom, Sam, PJ, Rose, and Lucy.

A celebration of life for Laura is yet to be determined. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Laura’s name to Tunnels to Towers.
