Karen Ann Strahm passed away June 29th, 2011 in a place she loved, " Up North". Born in The Dalles, Oregon she and her family moved to Phoenix Arizona, "the Big City", in 1959. Most important in her life were her family and friends whom she held dear. Karen spent her life watching Phoenix grow and change, as did her family. She was an amazing mother, excellent chef and lifelong friend to those who crossed her path. Beyond family she relished in travel, reading, genealogy and, lets be honest, politics. The people whose lives she touched remember her loving embrace, strong presence and giving heart. Karen never hesitated to extend a thoughtful ear, wise advice and a warm place to land; for these tremendous gifts she will be truly missed. To her family she will be missed for her strength of spirit and ever-solid love of life. Her most prized gifts in life were her grandsons, children, parents and family who she graced with unbending love, faith and best of all, hugs. A lady to the end Karen was a consummate diplomat and confidant. Those who knew her best know she was fiery when challenged; loving when required and most importantly never gave up! Karen is survived by her daughters Tawnya and Haley, "Son" Dominic; grandchildren Connor and Carter; mother Verna; siblings Connie and Chuck, and her dearest Lee. A celebration honoring her life will be held on Friday, July 8th, 2:00 PM, at Bethany Bible Church, 6060 N. 7th Ave. Phoenix 85013. A private reception will be held at her home following the service.
