passed away peacefully July 30th. Jim was born January 15th 1938 in Prescott and has lived in Phoenix since 1951. Involved in the automotive industry and racing on the side, Jim was a mechanic for a world record holding racing boat. Jim was known for his “pin striping” talent and engine building as well as painting skills customizing cars. Jim was also a pilot and restored WWII aircraft for which was recognized by the Smithsonian Air & Space Museum. A golfer as well, Jim made a hole-in-one at Mountain View GC in 1998. Jim enjoyed helping people and had a soft spot in his heart for abandoned animals. He is survived by his sons Charles Wilfred Polenske and Jim Hugo JR. Memorial services for Jim will be held at Greenwood Memory Mortuary Chapel 719 N. 27th Ave. in Phoenix on Saturday, August 16, 2014 at 10:00 am.
