Grace Virginia Wolfe, of Glendale, Arizona, went home to be with the Lord on March 26, 2011. She was born July 20, 1936, in Robeline, Louisiana. She was the daughter of late Harvey Brooks and Christella Houston-Brooks. Grace Wolfe was married to Timothy Wolfe, who preceded her in death. They had six children together, four daughters and two sons, but later divorced.
Grace was a philanthropist and activist in her own right, though she did not seek recognition or fame; she touched many individual’s lives. Grace was a great cook, a true fisherman and loved to travel. In the early 80’s Grace was recognized for fighting for affordable housing for individuals in need. This was the one of many efforts that she labored in and this was evident as this was the common theme of her life; a giver. Grace was truly a “Mother to Many” and did not hesitate to provide wisdom and guidance to anyone in need. Grace was a dedicated member of Mount Calvary Baptist Church, under the leadership of the late Rev. C. N. Hall and present Rev. Freddie Brown. She loved to sing in the choir, was a part of the Women’s Mission, and a dedicated tither. Grace continued her journey with the Lord even after her health disabled her from physically attending the house of worship.
Grace lived in McNary, Arizona, Phoenix, Arizona, and Las Vegas, Nevada before returning back to Glendale, Arizona. Grace was preceded in death by 18 siblings and three of her infant children. Grace leaves to celebrate her life three children and their spouses; Murvin “Jo Jo” (Mary) Wolfe of Las Vegas, NV; Barbara (L. Darnell) Colbert of Phoenix, AZ; and Anthony (Joyce “Renee”) Wolfe of Glendale, AZ; (17) grandchildren, (31) great-grandchildren, She also leaves to celebrate her life one brother and one sister, Nathanial Brooks of Robeline, LA; Edith Christella Brooks of Saginaw, MI and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends.
