Garry Duane Griswold

Garry Sr. was born on January 8, 1948, in Flint Michigan to Lile and Elaine (Tennant) Griswold. He graduated from Carl Hayden High School, Class of 1967. Upon graduating, he served with the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War for four years. During that time, he married Marilyn K. (O’Neal) Griswold, on April 6, 1971. He was a loyal employee of 34 years, with a company that made parts for airplane engines. That company changed its name several times, the last being Honeywell. They raised two sons, Garry Jr. and Jason.

Garry Sr. was very passionate with regard to family. He loved to hunt and fish with all his boys. One by one he taught them values, kindness and he showed them his compassionate spirit. With his big blue mug in hand, he helped teach them to drive, camp in the wild, shoot at targets, and climb mountains. Garry Sr. also looked forward to family vacations and poker nights.

Garry Sr. was preceded in death by his father Lile, and his mother, Elaine. He is survived by his wife Marilyn, his two sons, Garry Jr. and his wife Nicole; and Jason and Michelle; five grandsons, Zacre, Dustin, Scott, Matthew and Ryan; his sister Diane, and brother Steven, and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 14, 2021 at Pure Heart Church on 14240 N. 43rd Avenue, Glendale Arizona 85306 t at 11 o’clock a.m. Flowers or donations may be sent to Pure Heart Church in his name.
