She was born June 13, 1923 in Newport, Kentucky to Edwin “Ed” and Laura (Lape) Spaninger.
She was a 1940 graduate of Mariemont High School, Cincinnati, Ohio. She married Navy Lieutenant Lee R. Chambers on May 15, 1944. Lee passed on 25 May, 1995.
Garnet worked for Valley National Bank in Phoenix for many years, retiring in 1974. She was a lifetime member of the Order of Eastern Star achieving her 75 year recognition in 2018.
After retirement, Garnet donated many hours as a volunteer teacher’s aide reading to first grade students. Reading was a lifetime passion continued up to her passing.
Being a true believer, she was a long time member of the Paradise Valley Baptist Church.
Her favorite scripture was John 11: verses 21-27 where Martha was speaking to Jesus about the resurrection.
She is survived by sons Gregory (Barbara) and Kenneth (Nancy). Grandchildren Thomas, Daniel (Siri), Andrew (Tabitha), Jennifer (Michael), Katie (Shawn) and four great-grandchildren.
The family will have a graveside service at Phoenix Memorial Park, Phoenix, Arizona. Donations are encouraged to your favorite charity in lieu of flowers.
