Essie Faye Martin of Phoenix died September 4, 2014. She was born September 27, 1919 to Anthony and Virginia (King) Jones. Essie lived in the Buckeye area, graduating in 1937 from Buckeye Union High School. Later, she served as the school's secretary. For many years Essie was secretary for the superintendent of Phoenix Elementary District #1. She was strong-willed and hard working. Essie was a people-person. Her witty and spunky personality allowed her to make friends easily. Bridge, church, cooking and fmaily were her passions. Essie is predeceased by her husband Robert (Bob); borthers Wilson Jones and Bank Jones; sisters Martha Downey and Nan Weigold; and extended family members Tony Jones, Tommy Jones and Lucille Hardy-Price. She is survived by son John (Tony); sister Joy Beloat and extended family member Betty Libott. In lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution can be made to Hospice of the Valley.
