I still can't quite believe Cousin Doug is gone. I have many wonderful memories of him.

This was a great memory. Steve and Nancy took  the U of A boys back to Wisconsin for the Wisconsin Badger vs University of Arizona Game. Doug, Jim, Kent, Blake,  and Nancy did the driving. I only wish we had a picture of Doug lifting the Bucky Badger mascot into the air. RIP Doug we sure do 
miss you!

I met  Doug Parker in the early 80s when he was a fellow member of the active Phoenix 2030 club. Doug embraced me with the love of a new fraternity brother- the love  I had never felt before. in later years, he went on to become a trusted friend and my attorney in some real estate litigation. We were suing one of the largest real estate firms , and they were being represented by a premier litigation firm here in the United States, and we / he won our case in record time with minimal costs, and I was never more proud to call Doug my brother, Friend and attorney. After Doug’s memorial yesterday, I truly am honored to have been in his circle. I will miss you Dougie. Thank you for leading the way.


Doug was a gentle giant. All the memories from the Executive Council events.... Wine Tastes, Fall Classic's & the Parties. We had a blast & we raised millions for the kids. He loved it all. Doug may be gone but will not be forgotten. Sending thoughts & prayers to the Parker Family. Rest in Peace Doug !!!

Doug represented me in a domestic relations matter.  He was an outstanding family lawyer as well as a great person and will be truly missed.



I was so grateful to have met Doug 28 yrs ago at the Phoenix Open. He was so filled with a true love of giving his time to events such as these. Over the years our friendship grew, and we always chatted about this and that. It really didn't matter about what. He was truley a man to be admired by all.

Doug was my friend (and protector) during our high school and college years.  He was a gracious and dependable friend that always paid his share (and more),  was fully involved in our various “activities” then stayed until the cleanup was finished!  
As inexperienced young men, Doug and I shared many deep conversations about life was about and what we expected from it. Then   that “life” happen and we kind of lost track of each other but were always able to pickup our friendship right where we left off. We chose different paths to follow but “Mutual Respect” is my best definition of our friendship. 
Thank you for that Gurney!

Doug had a huge heart and was a great friend. He adored Ellie and had many close, long-time friends. His smile would light up the room. He always gave back to the community (he often worked every shift when the Thunderbirds supported the Summer Games for the Special Olympics ). He will be missed by many. Until we meet again my friend 😇

I first met Doug at Arizona State University as a Dumpette of Theta Delta Chi Fraternity. He later became my cheerleading partner at ASU. We had so much fun! He was quite a character! Plus, I trusted him to not drop me, which he never did. Thank you, Doug. He was also one of the kindest, funniest and most energetic person I have had the pleasure of knowing. He was a go-getter and  seemed to accomplish anything and everything he went after. His huge laugh and that big smile will forever be ingrained in my heart. 

Praying for peace, comfort and strength for the family and also for his beautiful soul. Rest in Peace, Douglass Gurney Parker, you will be missed! You may be gone but you are never forgotten. My sincerest condolences to the family. 


Doug, I knew you as I was Ellie's teacher in high school. You were such a committed, loving father to Ellie, always in constant communication with me. You adored your sweet girl. Doug, you supported Ellie through all the difficult times, wonderful times, and in-between times. You were never too busy for a phone call. You always had time to come to school. Ellie was your #1 priority! 
I will miss you, my friend,  as will so very many others. I will see you in the clouds, sunshine,  rain showers, leaves and flowers.  Be at peace, dear Doug.

I am so very sorry to learn of your loss, Brad. Doug was a fine man.

Doug Parker was the Best Man. 
Doug was the most genuine, caring and compassionate man, and the best of friends.  And Doug had many, many friends. We have all had  friends in or lives, but Doug was the best. If you were moving, Doug wouldn’t dodge your phone calls. Instead, he would just show up with a truck, a handcart, boxes and tape. You didn’t have to ask. 
All Doug wanted to do was help others. He had a strong Christian faith and understood that the reason we are all put on this earth is to help others have better lives. He practiced that every day. 
There is empirical proof that Doug Parker was, literally, the best man. Doug was asked to be the “Best Man”
In at least 10 weddings, and that says it all. Who else do you know who can claim that?
Doug was also a great diplomat. Who else can claim graduating from college as a cheerleader at ASU, and then getting into “Traditions” at University of Arizona the following year? (Collegiate blasphemy!) Nobody. Nobody but Doug Parker. 
 Doug had physical super powers as well. He was witnessed picking up the front end of his Mustang II and moving it off a railroad tie, “surfing” on the hood of a car crossing the Golden Gate Bridge, repairing a blown radiator hose MacGyver style with a tin can he found in the desert, and when a guy took a swing at him at “Freddy’s“, knocking that guy from the pinball machine all the way out the front door. But his greatest superpower was his love and compassion for others, and it is this for which Doug will be treasured and remembered by all who knew him. I could go on for days about this guy – truly one in a million.  Thank you Doug for sharing your life with us and elevating us all.

I will miss you my dear old friend . I always thought of you my best friend at the University of Arizona where you were finishing Law School and me undergraduate. When ever you were around things got fun …. whether at an Arizona football game or bar room boxing at Sugar Mountain Lodge. Regardless of what we were doing you were always thoughtful and kind. I fondly remember your kindness and faithful support of you dad Gurney and your mom Betty. Your service as a Thunderbird was exemplary and so consistent with your love of others and your fellow Thunderbirds. Doug you will be missed my brother and thank you for being so good to so many. Burned in my memory are the many hours we danced at Dooley’s in Tucson…. You could turn any environment into a soul train broadcast. Many like me were proud to be members of Traditions with you and I’m sure that was even more powerfully true later in your life as a member of the Vaunted Thunderbirds….. truly one the Great community service organizations in the world. Thank you for standing up for Judy’s and my wedding(you were my go to guy all weekend) Thank you for making my life more exciting , thank you for being a friend who I knew to trust and most of all I thank God Almighty your Creator who gifted us with your life and special presence these past 69 years.
