Doug was born to Betty and Gurney Parker on October 4th 1952 in Maquoketa, Iowa. They moved to Mesa, AZ in 1963 where Doug graduated from Westwood High School class of 71. After high school, he went on the earn his Bachelors from Arizona State University’s School of Business in 1975. While there Doug was active in student life being an ASU cheerleader and the President of his fraternity, Theta Delta Chi. After ASU Doug went on to the University of Arizona where he earned a Juris Doctor of Law in 1978. Much to the families chagrin, Doug’s dedication to Rallies and Traditions proved him more of a Wildcat then a Sun Devil.
Doug dedicated his life to serving the public through his law practice and many philanthropic ventures. He was an active member of the Phoenix Thunderbirds, past President of the 2030 Club, past President of the Phoenix Boys and Girls Club, past President of “POP” Prostate on-site Project, and most dear to him, the Special Olympics.
Doug is survived by his daughter, Elizabeth Parker, brother Brad Parker (Kim), niece Jody Parker, nephew Cole Parker (Annie) and many, many lifelong friends.
There will be a celebration of Doug’s life at a date yet to be determined.
