Don was married twice; Mary A. Brown was his first wife, and they had 4 children together. There are 10 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild from that union. Clara Joan Akers was his second wife, and they had 1 son together, along with her 4 children, 5 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
Don was preceded in death by his mother, Linda Coons, both his wives Mary and Joan, and 3 step sons. He is survived by his 6 children, Don Wester Jr., Jeritta Taylor, Roy Wester, Regina Stapley, Randy Wester, and Rebecca Blake. Also surviving are 15 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild and his little dog Ciddo.
Don's long work history included truck driver, drapery installer, and Airport transport driver. He worked well into his 80's. Don also served very proudly in the United States Navy during WWII, 1945 and 1946.
Don enjoyed his pool league for many years as well as spending time at the Senior Center and Jim's Coney Island Restaurant with friends. Dogs were such an integral part of his life; he always had one. Not to mention his fascination with cars and motorcycles though the years.
He lived 18 years in North Dakota, 23 years in Iowa and his last 51 years in Arizona. He was truly blessed with a very full 92 years. Rest in peace Don, your journey is done. You will be forever missed and greatly loved.
Don will be laid to rest July 3, 2019. Funeral services will be held at Resthaven / Carr-Tenney Mortuary & Memorial Gardens, with Visitation at 9:00 AM, service at 10:00 AM, followed by Committal service at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 N. Cave Creek Rd, Phoenix, Arizona, at 12:30 PM.
