Darcy Renee Renfro passed away on September 4, 2023. She is survived by her husband Lawrence Palles, daughter Ava Renfro Palles, parents Robert and Carol Renfro, sister Kelly Slife (Scott Slife), mother-in-law Eileen Tucker Palles (Robert Palles (deceased)), sisters-in-law Meredith Macherey (Jeff Macherey) and Caroline Dreyfus (David Dreyfus), brother-in-law Michael Weiss (Heather Kotler), niece and nephews Nathan Weiss, Wesley Macherey, Brody Weiss, Alexa Dreyfus, Noah Slife, Beckett Dreyfus and Rylan Macherey, and Bella the Pug.
An Arizona native and double Arizona Wildcat, Darcy lived her entire life in Arizona, with the exception of three years in Washington D. C. working for Senators Dennis DeConcini and Howard Metzenbaum. Darcy was a 1999 graduate of the University of Arizona College of Law and practiced law at Fennemore Craig before joining the administration of Governor Janet Napolitano, first in the Department of Commerce and later as Governor Napolitano’s Policy Advisor for Higher Education and Economic Development. She later made her mark at Science Foundation Arizona, the Center for the Future of Arizona, and finally as the Chancellor’s Chief of Staff at the Maricopa Community College District and the Vice Chancellor of Community, Government Relations and Economic Development at the time of her passing.
Darcy was a devoted wife, extraordinary mother, and lover of pugs. Darcy will be sorely missed and lovingly remembered.
A Memorial Service will be held in the Bulpitt Auditorium at Phoenix College, 1202 W.
