Danny Carl Gunn

Danny was born on October 9, 1946 in Conway, Arkansas, the son of Monteen and Carl Gunn. Since 1951, Danny has called Arizona home. Danny graduated from Sunnyslope High School in 1964 and married his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Marlene Melander, in April of 1965. He spent most of his adult life working in construction, including owning, and operating his own construction business for 10 years. Danny eventually sold his business and began working for the City of Glendale. Danny retired from the City of Glendale in 2008 as Director of the Code Compliance Department.

Danny had a great passion for the outdoors and spent numerous years as an avid hiker. Danny and his wife continued to stay in touch with several of their high school friends throughout the last several years, and when time allowed, Danny thoroughly enjoyed moments together with friends. Danny’s greatest joy was spending time with his family, whether it was vacationing in Greer, AZ, Holiday’s, Birthday’s or simply just because, Danny absolutely loved moments together with family.

Danny is preceded in death by his father Carl Gunn, mother Monteen Gunn, sister Karen Gunn and brother-in-law Glen Beard.

Danny is survived by his wife Marlene Gunn, sister Sharon Beard, two son(s) Rick and Sean Gunn, daughter Shayla Gunn, daughter-in-law Carla Gunn, son-in-law Stephen Nitsche, grandchildren Joshua Gunn, Abby Gunn, Allie Gunn, Liliana Nitsche, great granddaughter Camila Gunn and eight nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Banner Thunderbird Hospital for the care and compassion they showed Danny in his final days.

A graveside service will take place on Friday, December 13, 2024 at 11:00 am at Phoenix Memorial Park and Mortuary, 200 West Beardsley Road, Phoenix, AZ 85027 with a celebration of life reception to take place immediately following at a private residence.
