For Carlos (Chucky) Torres, the last few months were a new beginning. The past was past, and the future lay before him. He dreamed of buying a new home, going on a vacation to San Diego, taking care of his 94-year-old mother, and getting a new dog after his beloved dog Paco died earlier this year. In fact, 61-year-old Chucky, born on August 10, 1955, in Phoenix, was a new man with a mission: to embrace life, love, and family and leave the pain of illness behind. But it was not to be. Chucky Torres, son of Carlos Torres (senior), deceased, and Arsenia Cota Torres died Tuesday, November 15, at Maryvale Hospital of complications from a virus and dehydration. He leaves behind his beloved mother, Arsenia Torres, son Anthony Torres, and sisters Theresa Torres Roop (Ernie), Cecilia Torres Best (Stod), Linda Torres, and Rachel Torres Carrillo. Chucky is also survived by his nieces and nephew, Theresa Tweeddale, Lisa Sexauer, Lisa Farrah Carrillo, MariaLinda Miles, and Corey Best. Chucky’s intelligence, sense-of-humor, and GPS abilities or his ability to locate, without a map, any place in Phoenix, will not be forgotten. Carlos attended Arizona State University and retired from Arizona Public Service Company where he worked as a meter reader. The funeral mass will be at St. Simon and Jude Cathedral at 10 a.m. in Phoenix followed by internment at St. Francis Cemetery. After the interment there will be a luncheon following at the St. Bernadette Hall at St. Simon and Jude Catholic Church. Visit the guest book at www.almooregrimshaw.com
