Barbara LaVergne Wilson

Barbara LaVergne Bessie Kessler Wilson, of Phoenix, AZ, went to be with the Lord on Friday, January 19, 2018. She was born June 30, 1930 in Zion, IL, to Joseph Norton Kessler and Viva Amy (Studebaker). She married Robert Lorrie Wilson on August 19, 1948. She was proceeded in death by her husband Robert and their son Robert. She is survived by six children: Kathy (Steve) Jones, Wendi (Jay) Polchow, Jo Lynn (Terry) Truan, Julie (Don) Daniels, Michael (Sarah) Wilson, and Patrick (Jennifer) Wilson, and more than 30 grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Barbara was loved and adored by her husband, children and grandchildren. She was always encouraging and accepting, compassionate and comforting, sweet and gracious, gentle and faithful. She spoke with joy in her voice and was genuinely pleased to see her family and friends. Barbara enjoyed church activities, singing alto in the choir, and she especially loved singing duets with her husband Bob. She liked the outdoors, going for long drives to historic sites or to rock hound, as well as camping, hiking, and fishing; and she even ventured on a backpack trip across the Grand Canyon. At home Barbara was an exceptional cook, particularly baking, and she made the best Christmas cookies ever. She was an excellent seamstress and a knitter, and enjoyed reading novels.

Memorial Services will be held Thursday, January 25, 2018 at Fellowship Square 2002 W. Sunnyside Dr . Phx, at 9:30am and a service at Desert Christian Fellowship 1445 W. Northern Ave., Monday January 29, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona 23029 N Cave Creek Rd, Phx, at 2:00 pm.
