Patricia Ann Byrnes Edes age 80 passed away July 30, 2023 peacefully at home in Salem, Al. surrounded by her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Elizabeth Byrnes, her infant brother, Robert, cousin Kathy Butynski, grandson, Thomas Smith and her husband, Earl Edes. She is survived by her sister, Lynn Byrnes of Nyack NY, 2 sons, Kevin (Irene) Edes of Sebastian, Fl., Dennis M. Edes of Smith’s Station, Al., 3 daughters, Lynn E. Murphy of Apalachicola, Fl., Elizabeth (Kevin) Simmons of Phenix City, Al. and Sharon (Jim) Smith of Phenix City, Al. 9 grandchildren Dustin, Matthew, Michael, Caitlyn, Kenleigh, Miranda, Kayla, Tori, Aaron and 11 great grandchildren.
Patricia was born in Nyack, NY in 1943. She graduated Clarkstown High School in New City, NY. in 1961 with her beauty school license and a week later, married the love of her life, Earl, in Ft. Bragg, North Carolina after meeting on a blind date during the summer of 1960. The newlyweds moved to Greenfield, Massachusetts in 1962 and there, they expanded their family to include 5 children over the course of 9 years and in July 1971, relocated to Columbus, Ga. Mrs. Edes dedicated her life to her children and soon found herself caring for the children of friends and neighbors full time. There was never a shortage of hide and seek players. Many children came through Mrs. Edes home where they found love, safety and lifetime friendships. Her love and kindness has been spread deep and wide.
There will be a casual gathering for reminiscing and sharing stories about Patricia on August 5, 2023, 2pm-5pm at the home of Elizabeth and Kevin Simmons 130 McElvey Road, Phenix City, Al 36869 for all who would like to attend.
