SFC John M. Lassen US Army (Ret), 78 of Cusseta, GA passed away Friday, June 14, 2013 at the Columbus Hospice House. Graveside funeral services with military honors will be held 11:00 A.M. ET, Tuesday, June 18, 2013 at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery, according to Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 3770 US Hwy 280 West, Phenix City, AL. The family will receive friends from 9:30 AM until 10:30 AM at the funeral home prior to the service.
Mr. Lassen was born April 15, 1935 in Danbury, Connecticut. He is the son of the late Frank and Florence Marshall Lassen. He is retired from the U.S. Army after 27 years of service.
Survivors include his wife Sam Im Lassen of Cusseta, GA, children, Maria Eversole of Cusseta, GA, John Lassen (Patricia) of Buena Vista, GA, Nancy Petersen of Columbus, GA, Bill Lassen (Kim) of Maine, Penny Whitwell (Mike) of Cusseta, GA, brothers, Joe Lassen, Bill Lassen, Albert Lassen, sisters, Frances Rodriguez, Susan Greenwood, Juanita DuPont, Linda Jandro, eleven grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
