Carolyn Collins Lacy, 89 of Dadeville, Alabama passed away Tuesday, March 22, 2022 at her daughter's home. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 A.M. EDT in Lakewood Hall at Striffler-Hamby, Phenix City with Pastors Don Abrams and Bruce Johnson officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:30A.M. until 11:30 A.M. EDT at the funeral home prior to the service. Burial will take place at 4:00 P.M. EDT in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery in Sylacauga, AL.
Mrs. Lacy was born February 19, 1933 in Sylacauga Alabama; daughter of the late Prentiss S. and Vera Hardy Collins. She was retired from the Russell County School System and was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Phenix City, AL.
She was a graduate of Auburn University where she earned a Bachelors degree in Home Economics and worked as a home extension agent in Greenville Alabama. She met her beloved husband Charles while attending Auburn University. They were married August 25, 1956.
She later returned to school earning a Bachelors degree in early elementary education and a Masters Degree from Troy University in special education. She taught for many years at Ladonia Elementary touching many lives.
Her family remembers her as a wonderful cook, an avid reader and a band mom. She loved to laugh and spend summers with her three daughters.
She and Charles were married for 63 years until his death January 31, 2018.
She is survived by her three daughters, Carol Sellers, Cathy Lacy (Steve), Connie Lacy, grandson Nathan Sellers (Brianna) and great granddaughter Lainey Grace Sellers.
