Beloved Husband, Father, Papa, Son and Little Brother
Born December 24, 1958 to Richard Eugene Tidwell and Donna Beatrice Bennett Tidwell in Fort Benning, Georgia. They lived in several states due to his father's service in the US Army and settled in Columbus, Georgia.
Benny is survived by his wife, Teressa Tidwell, daughter, Angela & Matt Massey & grandkids, Morgan and Camden; his son, Jarrett Tidwell and grandkids, Clayton and Alexis; his mother, Donna Tidwell, his brother, Kenneth (Rick) and Gayle Tidwell, his sister, Debra & Klutts Self, along with many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Benny is predeceased by his father, Richard Eugene Tidwell, his sister, Patricia (Patty Pat) Sue Tidwell and his son, (BJ) Benjamin Matthew Tidwell, Jr.
Benny has lived in Salem, Alabama for the past 25 years. He worked as a truck driver, a mechanic and in the oil field. He loved hunting, riding motorcycles, working on his property, building and fixing things, and most of all, spending time with his family.
Benny was diagnosed with ALS-Lou Gehrig's Disease in March 2023. Benny was cared for at home by his wife, family and Gentiva Hospice Care until his passing on December 12, 2024.
A Memorial Service will be held at Striffler-Hamby in Phenix City, Alabama. Visitation will be Saturday, December 14, 2024 at 10:00 A.M. EST and service will be directly following at 11:00 A.M. EST.
In lieu of flowers, Benny has asked for donations to be made to Team Gleason. They are and ALS based organization that helps people dealing with ALS and all the equipment needed to battle this awful disease. They are wonderful in helping us with copays for equipment.
