A man of strong character and unwavering love, Manuel's devotion to his wife, Melida, was always evident – his romantic serenades during their courtship left an imprint on all who witnessed it. He was indeed a beautiful person. He started his day with devotions and reading scriptures. He was renowned for his work ethic, dedicating 27 years as a mechanic; and his career ended at Valley View ISD where after 14 years, he retired. He worked very hard to provide for his family. Indeed, he was never late and taught his children the value of time. The practical life skills he lovingly taught his four children, like changing oil or fixing a flat tire, were an extension of his caring nature. An advocate for higher education, he highly encouraged his children and grandchildren to strive for academic success. He loved going to Shipley's to buy donuts for his grandkids. With a witty sense of humor, Manuel could light up any room, his laughter infectious, and his joy, boundless. He was easy to strike up a conversation with anybody regardless of social class to include strangers. Not to mention, he had the prettiest blue eyes! An avid lover of animals and nature, he found serenity in the thrills of the Animal Planet and the depths of National Geographic. His musical preferences were always classic, favoring the tunes of Trios de Los Panchos and Norteños de Nuevo Laredo. Our memories of him will forever be held in our hearts…until we see him again!
Manuel is survived by his wife, Melida Garcia; his four children, Hector A. (Nora) Garcia, Mirtha N. (Carlos) Jimenez, Sandra I. (Michael) Gonzalez, Julissa Y. (Enrique) Ruiz; two sisters, Imelda Lozano and Teresa Chavana; eight grandkids; many more extended family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Marcos and Petra Garcia; four brothers and sisters, Angel Garcia, Margarita Vargas, Angela Chapa, and Marcos Garcia.
